19 OSC Swimmers Shine at the 48th Goldfins Invitational

From November 1st to 3rd, 19 dedicated swimmers from our top four groups represented OSC at the 48th Goldfins Invitational, held at the Shaw Centre in Saskatoon. This early-season competition saw our athletes exceed expectations, delivering incredible performances across the board! The team collectively achieved a staggering 104 personal bests and claimed 39 podium finishes, showcasing their hard work and determination. 

Highlights of the Weekend:
Several athletes achieved remarkable milestones during the meet, including their first trials times for the season: 
-    Tatiana Cockwill (F12): Achieved her first 13&U trials time in the 100m backstroke with an impressive 1:15.55. 
-    Lucas Badiu (M13): Secured his first trials time in the boys’ 13&U 100m backstroke, clocking in at 1:15.56. 
-    Tao So (M11): Made his mark with a 13&U trials time in the 200m backstroke, finishing in 2:47.49. 
-    Sara Wilhite (F16): Achieved her first trials time of the season (with OSC) in the 100m breaststroke with an excellent 1:24.08. 

Podium Performances: 
Our athletes demonstrated resilience and skill, earning well-deserved spots on the podium:
-    Emmitt Kingston: 6 Gold 
-    Tatiana Cockwill: 3 Gold, 2 Silver
-    Samuel Leyland: 3 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze
-    Tucker Buhler: 2 Gold, 2 Silver
-    Layne Birbeck: 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze 
-    Lucas Badiu: 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze
-    Kobyn Kirchner: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze 
-    Alex Kaulbach: 3 Bronze 
-    Aila Mirza: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze 
-    Collin Sabariaga: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze 
-    Tao So: 1 Silver

Finally, a special thanks to our amazing chaperones, Maureen and Samar, for their unwavering support and hard work throughout the weekend. Your dedication ensured everything ran smoothly for the team. Additionally, a big shout-out to Jason, our bus driver, for providing a safe and seamless journey to and from Saskatoon. 

As we continue to build on this momentum, we look forward to even greater accomplishments in the coming months. Congratulations to all our swimmers for making this event a huge success
