This past weekend, the top four groups gathered in Edmonton for the highly anticipated Edmonton Open, marking the first long course meet of the season. It was an exciting event where our Olympians truly shone, showcasing their skills and determination.
The meet was filled with impressive performances, as our athletes had the opportunity to compete for cash prizes. We are proud to say that our swimmers rose to the occasion, achieving numerous personal best times and demonstrating exceptional racing strategies. Their hard work and commitment allowed them to capitalize on this unique opportunity to compete at a high level.
We are especially proud of our five Olympians—Aiden Gyorfi, Alex Lim, Emily Morgantini, Sophia Musselman and Layne Birbeck—who stood out among the competition, making the top four of their respective events.
One of our primary goals for this meet was to focus on racing strategies, particularly emphasizing the first and last 15 meters of each race. We are thrilled to report that the Olympians executed this strategy exceptionally well, showcasing their ability to push through and maintain their speed.
As we look forward to the rest of the season, including the upcoming spring Provincial Trials and Provincial Championships, we are excited to see what OSC can achieve. A special note of gratitude to all team members for their hard work and commitment. OSC will be hosting the Provincial Championships, and we encourage everyone to lend a hand if possible. Remember, the best seat is on the deck!
Let’s continue this momentum and aim for even greater success. Go OSC!
