Candy Cane Invitational 2024
December 6-8th 2024, 119 proud OCS swimmers competed at the annual Candy Cane Invitational swim meet. For some of the athletes this was their first 3 day competition, everyone came with personal best mentality and it showed in their performance.
Highlights:
Starting off congratulations to Evan Brake for breaking the 10yr old boys, 50m backstroke club record! This record has been standing strong since 1990 but Evan managed to capture the record with the time of 35.51! Outstanding work.
Kings and Queens: Broken Candy cane Award! At this meet there was an award handed out to the top swimmers, in each age category with the fastest 4x50m add up time! Congrats to our Kings Evan Brake and Jeremy Tchir, and to our Queens Kendall Zaboroski and Elise Wonsiak!
Boy 10&U A Relay: Evan Brake, Kai Rymer, Jeremy Tchir and Luke Li placed 1st overall in the 4X50m Medley relay
Jeremy Tchir: Achiving his first 3 festival times in 50m free (36.85), 50m fly (42.29) and 100m back (1:36:26)
Sienna Lanni: Achieving her second festivals time in 100m free (1:21:01)
Varvara Varankina: Achieving her first provincial time in 100m back (1:19:27)
Sage Andre: Achieving a new provincial trial time in 50m Fly (32.65)
Collin Sabariaga: Achieving his first ever provincial trials time in 200m bk (2:41:82)
Joshua Bodet: Achieving a new champs time in 400m free (4:53:22)
Makena Chung: Achieving a new provincial trials time in 100m back (1:19:26)
Maddy Fidler: Achieving a new provincial trials time in 50m breaststroke (38.80)
Mikayla Gunderson: Achieving a new provincial trials in 200m back (2:47:27) and 400m free (5:17:45)
Ava Guo: Achieving a new provincial trial time in 50m breaststroke (39.14)
Maya Horn: Achieving a new provincial trial times in 50m breaststroke (38.77) and 100m breaststroke (1:27:31)
Gwen Ryan: Achieving a new provincial trail time in 50m breaststroke(40.68), 100m breaststroke (1:30.84) and 200m IM (2:53:06)
Kendall Zaboroski: Achieving a new provincial trials time in 50m breaststroke (39.66) and 100m breaststroke (1:29:87)
