Gillian Archer, Layne Birbeck, Tanner Cole, Aiden Gyorfi, Hayden Visscher, Sahara Visscher, and Avery Wiseman proudly represented Olympian Swim Club at the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Trials held at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre May 13th through 19th.
These seven swimmers really rose to the occasion, delivering some of their best performances under immense pressure, making their coach and the entire OSC family incredibly proud.
Here are some of the meet highlights:
- Tanner Cole had phenomenal performances, breaking the club record in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:03.93. He also set a new club record in the 400m IM with a time of 4:26.90, earning a silver medal, and achieved another club record in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:17.10, securing a bronze medal. He finished it off with a PB in the 1500m freestyle, going 16:13.25 in the Junior finals.
- Hayden Visscher, returning from SFU for the summer, reached the B finals in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke. He also got a best time in his 100m freestyle with a time of 57.84.
- Sahara Visscher competed in the Junior finals in the 100m backstroke and B finals in the 200m freestyle. She touched at 2:23.71 in her 200m backstroke and got a best time after dropping 3 seconds.
- Gillian Archer delivered a significant personal best in the 1500m freestyle, clocking in at 18:01.48, a senior trials time. She achieved 4:32.70 in the 400m freestyle was another PB with over a 4-second drop!
- Layne Birbeck dropped over 5 seconds in her 200m IM, going 2:31.10, and achieved another PB in her 100m freestyle (1:01.31) at her first-ever Canadian Olympic Trials.
- Avery Wiseman competed in the A finals of the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
- Aiden Gyorfi placed in the top 10 in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8:27.96. He also got a PB in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:06.40.
