OSC 2020-2021 | Rookie Camp Information

September 12, 2020

OSC's Rookie Camp format has changed from previous years to accommodate COVID-19 safety guidelines, and now consists of a 15min private assessment. You will leave the session with information regarding upcoming registration and important dates.

Some housekeeping items:

  • Everyone must be wearing a mask inside the building, this includes both parents and swimmers.
  • We have been granted an exception by our facilities during Rookie Camp due to our initial proposed procedural change. As numbers are limited, families are able to appropriately socially distance themselves from one another in the bleachers, and as such will be able to stay on deck with their athlete during Rookie Camp, however;
  • Please know that once our season begins, parents will NOT be allowed to spectate as per facility guidelines.

If your Rookie Camp is at the University of Alberta West Pool:

  • Parking: the Stadium or Varsity lot are the closest/recommended parking locations
  • Doors/entry: please use the main doors of the Van Vliet building, opposite of SUB. We will have a person stationed in the area to help direct you to the pool.
  • Swimmers are able to use the changeroom before and after practice. This is how parents and swimmers will get on deck.
  • Once on deck with your athlete, parents should then check in with an organizer, who will then introduce you to your coach.
  • Parents must wait in the stands during the assessment. Your mask must stay on while waiting.
  • Following your assessment, parents and swimmers can then leave the pool deck through the changerooms, the same as how you entered.

If your Rookie Camp is at Fountain Park Pool:

  • Doors/entry: please use the Skybox entry way on the NE side of the building. We will have a person stationed in the area to help direct you to the pool.
  • Swimmers are not able to use the changeroom before Rookie Camp, and must come dressed to swim. The changeroom can be used on the way out.
  • Once on deck with your athlete, parents should then check in with an organizer, who will then introduce you to your coach.
  • Parents must wait in the stands during the assessment. Your mask must stay on while waiting.

Following your assessment, parents and swimmers can then either a) leave through the Skybox similar to entry OR if wanting to use the changeroom, must then exit through the front doors of the building.
