Meet Report | 2021 PCS Christmas Cracker

March 6, 2022

Meet Report for the 19th Annual PCS Xmas Cracker from December 3-5th, 2021

Team Goals

The Team Goals for this meet were to improve our travel meet procedures, and maintain our performance throughout this 5-day travel event. We were extremely proud of how our swimmers chose to manage themselves over the course of this demanding weekend, and as a result we saw some awesome performances and massive improvements even on Sunday! Over the course of these long 3-day meets with an additional 2 travel days, eating right and getting enough sleep makes the difference.

Swimmer Stats

The club brought 28 swimmers to this event. We had 163 personal bests, and 9 podium places. The swimmer with the largest improvement was Andrew Welsh, with an improvement of 70.23 seconds in the 800 Freestyle, going from 9:58.53 to 8:48.30. Congratulations Andrew! That time also qualified Andrew for the Western Canadian Championships in April. Other new cuts include Gillian Archer qualifying for Westerns with a 1:17.54 in 100 Breaststroke, and Breanna Picken making Westerns in 1500 Free with 18:27.02. Swimmers Grace Jodoin (100 Back 1:10.61, 200 Back 2:32.60) and Kayla St. Pierre (400 Free 4:42.59) also scored new Champs times! Congratulations, everyone.

Chaperone Shout-Out

Chaperones play an important role in Team Travel, making sure that our swimmers are supported so that they can swim as fast as possible. Shout out to Linda Swallow, Eugene Gyorfi, and Rachelle Vandersteen for doing an amazing job as our chaperones for this weekend!
